Microsoft Paint gets dark mode on Windows 11; how to enable it now
The Windows Insider program is now receiving the dark theme for the Paint app in Windows 11. Our article discussed January 2023 will see the release of the MS Paint dark mode. Microsoft has confirmed that its popular canvas app will receive an updated look and new features with the release of Windows 11.
Testers in the Windows Insider Program's Dev and Canary channels will soon have access to the revamped Paint app for Windows 11. You won't find the new Paint update in the Microsoft Store if your device is in the production channel.
Microsoft wants to hear from beta testers so that it can refine its Paint program. If you can't wait, you can manually update to a new version of Paint with a dark mode and improved zoom controls by following the steps I've highlighted below.

- You can get the update from the Microsoft Store if you're on the Dev or Canary channel.
- You can get Paint 11.2304.17.0 from our downloads page if you're running an older version of Windows 11 or are on the production channel Saving Data Online.
- You can install the app by right-clicking on the.msixbundle (check the file extension to make sure it is.msixbundle).
- The update or install button should be clicked when prompted. The new Paint has a nighttime setting and an updated options panel.
- No matter which version of Windows 11 you're using, if you launch Paint, you'll see a dark theme option.
