Microsoft is bringing OpenAI ChatGPT plugins to Windows 11

ChatGPT has mined its discarded data for insights as far back as September 2021. Now that it supports plugins, ChatGPT can act as a browser, visiting and scraping websites in real time. Microsoft is bringing the ChatGPT plugins that OpenAI has been developing to Windows 11. Windows 11 will support ChatGPT add-ons via Copilot for Windows, a desktop OS that combines the features of ChatGPT and Bing AI. Microsoft has decided to adopt the OpenAI-created plugin standard for ChatGPT, paving the way for compatibility between ChatGPT, Bing, Dynamics 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Windows Copilot. In addition, Microsoft announced its plans to make Bing the default search engine in Microsoft's ChatGPT. This change also opens the door for programmers to create additional plugins for Microsoft 365 Copilot, such as ChatGPT and Bing. Connectors for the Power Platform and Teams message expansions are also in the works for this package. Microsoft provides a toolkit for developers using Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio called the Microsoft Teams Toolkit. During the Build 2023 developer conference, the company introduced an AI development framework meant to help programmers make their own personal assistants. This framework includes assistance for plugins that extend the capabilities of AI systems in various ways, such as through the provision of real-time data retrieval, the incorporation of business data, and the execution of novel computations and actions. These add-ons serve as a link between the AI and external resources like databases, websites, and backend systems. By syncing the copilot with relevant data sources, expanding its functionalities, and ensuring it abides by the company's policies, such integrations aim to make the user experience smoother and more streamlined. This change suggests that a robust plugin ecosystem will soon emerge.
