Windows 11 Moment 2 finally fixes a bug that makes copying files slow

The strange inability of the Windows 11 22H2 upgrade to efficiently copy files was noticed by users after the update. After the most recent monthly updates, many users complained that copying large files took an extremely long time. In the operating system's technical preview builds, Microsoft addressed the reported issues.

Since installing Windows 11 2022 Update, some users have found it difficult to copy large files. It has been reported that copying files can take twice as long.

The fix has been available for a while to Windows Insider Program participants. After verifying the fix was effective, Microsoft promised to make it available to everyone via the production channel, and now it is doing so with the Moment 2 patch.

Ned Pyle, principal program manager at Microsoft, previously confirmed that the fix would be made available to the public in a monthly update. Once the issue is confirmed in Insider builds, the final fix for Windows 11 22H2 production computers will be released as a monthly Cumulative Update via Windows Update. noted.

We observed that some file transfers were nearly twice as slow as usual. A tech consultant from a company in the United Kingdom told us, "Our users confirmed this is no longer the case after the KB5022913 update.

Microsoft claims that users on home networks and small offices are less likely to encounter the file copying bug in Windows 11 than those in larger organizations.

Yet, it's still a potential issue for customers.

Additionally, "local file copy might also be affected," Microsoft warned.

The fix will be included in March 2023 Patch Tuesday
