Windows 10 KB5022834 released – here’s what’s new and how to download





Microsoft is releasing update KB5022834 for Windows 10 on February 20, 2023, as part of the monthly Patch Tuesday security snapshot. Microsoft is continuing to put its money where its mouth is by betting on Windows 11 and beyond, so this release is focused on fixing bugs. Microsoft has also made the update available on MCU, making it simple to locate offline installers for Windows 10 KB5022834.

KB5022834 is a Patch Tuesday update that does not include any particularly noteworthy new features, but it does include a number of important fixes and enhancements. For instance, the February 2023 Patch Tuesday is a major release because Microsoft has bundled all of the improvements from the January 2023 preview.

(An identical update for Windows 11 is also available.) The KB5022845 update is available for users of Windows 11 22H2. This update (KB5022836) is for Windows 11 21H2 (the initial release).

Improved Fast Identity Online 2.0 (FIDO2) authentication means signing in now always works with Windows 10 Build 19045.2486. The update also includes a fix for Windows Search issues, which should address the underlying issue where the operating system prevents users from signing in or out.

Microsoft is working to resolve an issue where the DNS suffix search list was broken, potentially leaving out the parent domain.

Windows 10 Version 19045.2486 has been updated to fix the following issues:

  • Resolved an issue wherein activating Task View would cause the desktop to become unresponsive.

  • An issue that degraded a portion of memory has been resolved.

  • The problem with Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) user mode policy has been resolved.

  • Edge now prints properly in landscape orientation.

  • The problem with Resilient File System (ReFS) MSba not functioning properly or causing excessive nonpaged pool usage has been resolved.

  • The problem has been fixed, and now you can learn more about configuring the Windows diagnostic data processor.


Windows 10 20H2 and 21H2 supported editions will also no longer receive optional non-security updates from Microsoft. As Microsoft continues to develop Windows 11, support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 will be limited to monthly security updates (the "B" or Tuesday release).
